I have been married for almost 20 years, and have been a suffering Lions football fan ever since.
My wife Christine's father's cousin Walter Dell was the stats guru for the club for many years. Needless to say, I was given the VIP treatment each time I attended a game. I was fortunate to see Barry Sanders a couple times. A real highlight.
At the start of the 2007 season, QB Jon Kitna guaranteed a 10 win season. He was crushed by the media and sports talk yahoos. They are 6-3 before Thanksgiving. Now who has cranberry sauce on their face ?
For those who think because my Redsox have had recent success, I don't understand the pain of losing. Just look at the Lions dismal record the past decade. And all the blown draft picks etc.
Normally I can only be excited about the Lions until the annual Thanksgiving game. Once the last Madden Turkey Leg Award has been given out, I used to focus on my UVM hockey, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Red Sox hot stove action.
This year I have enjoyed going to work on Mondays. Discussing the previous days games.
My boss is a Giants fan, and my coworkers rout for the Dolphins, Cowboys, Patriots and 49ers.
This coming Sundays matchup between the Lions and Giants ought to be for real bragging rights for the afternoon.
Go Lions !

No need to suffer, join the Browns bandwagon! We're actually enjoying football these days.
